|Members of this group had taken part in the Poplar Futures project last year: their ideas for the future of their local area can be seen on the ‘Futures 2004’ pages. We therefore decided to look at the area from a different angle, by exploring personal identity and how it feels to be a young person growing up in Poplar. We started by creating personal ID cards, portraits and caricatures, using drawing and collage. We then used video to explore how it might feel to be an older person, and we also looked back at how we had felt as much younger people. As a group we used these ideas to write and illustrate a poem, using photography and graphic design, to express our feelings about ourselves and our lives at the moment. Artist: Lucy Bergonzi.
