|In the second phase of the project, we continued to design images that could be used for paving schemes at Chrisp Street Market area. Previously we had taken our inspiration from existing photographs and designs, but we now moved onto working observationally from life. We drew and painted flowers, fruit, vegetables and ornaments bought at Chrisp Street Market and elsewhere, using a range of media including pencil crayons, oil pastels and acrylic paint. We explored colour mixing, and we created ‘still lives’ experimenting with shape, tone, light, shade and texture. And we continued to work from our imaginations to make greetings cards, to decorate plates and to design textile patterns. Support Worker: Shaheda Mahmud. Artist: Lucy Bergonzi.
